THE TRAVELLING IMMIGRANTS ART EXHIBIT 2009

LOS IMMIGRANTES NO SOLO REPRESENTAMOS FUERZA LABORAL, TAMBIEN TENEMOS UN CULTURA QUE NOS ENORGULLECE Y TALENTO CREATIVO. TENEMOS ALGO MAS QUE APORTAR A LA SOCIEDAD NO SOLO TRABAJO.

Immigrants artists from approximately 20 countries have come together to respond artistically to this time in history in which immigrants are being persecuted and deprived of their rights. Because Art has transformative and healing powers to those it touches, it can transcend barriers, borders and differences.

Particularly of concern in Suffolk & Nassau County are the racial profiling, separation of families through raids and deportations of “immigrant-looking people” by Immigration Control & Enforcement and the support and/or condonation of county police and officials creating an atmosphere where youths feel emboldened to attack and kill as happened to Marcelo Lucero in Patchogue 2008.

COME LET YOUR HEART BE OPENED BY THEIR ART

Opens Friday, September 18 @ 2 pm
Thru Friday, October 9, 2009
